As my 84 year old dad was working in his front yard transplanting an ornamental grass, he felt a sharp pain hit the first knuckle of his ring finger. A copperhead! The doctors were ready for major surgery if it went past his elbow. The swelling and other affects of the venom never went past his wrist.
